The
October issue of the AARP Bulletin includes the following useful
tips on how to cut costs on prescription drugs.
Check out drug
assistance programs through your area agency on aging or http://www.benefitscheckup.org.
Ask for help
from the companies that manufacture the drugs you take. For a free
directory of drug companies call 800-762-4636 or go to http://www.helpingpatients.org.
Check out discount
drug cards at http://www.rxassist.org.
Take advantage
of discount mail order plans such as AARP's program (800-289-8849
or http://www.aarppharmacy.com)
or compare prices among plans at http://www.destinationrx.com.
Two U.S. nonprofits
help Americans fill prescriptions by mail order from licensed Canadian
pharmacies: The Minnesota Senior Federation (877-645-0261, Ext.
124) or http://www.mnseniors.org)
and the United Health Alliance (866-633-7482 or http://www.medicineassist.org.).
AARP emphasizes
that publishing these tips does not imply the endorsement of AARP.
